Ch. 39: She Was Angry

Luo Xuan rushed over and hugged Gu Feihan from behind. He didn’t evade nor push her away, he just stood there indifferently, motionless.

Qiao Yu couldn’t stand watching them longer and she turned to leave. She thought that she didn’t care and tried to force herself to unsee what she wasn’t supposed to see, but she did–anger, disappointment, resentment, betrayal, countless negative emotions surged in her heart. She felt as if she was drowning.

For a long while, Qiao Yu sat alone on a bench in the garden. Gu Feihan and Luo Xuan walked out one after the other and before Luo Xuan went to look for the general manager, she spotted Qiao Yu and gave her a provocative smile. Suddenly, a suit jacket was draped over her shoulder. It was still warm.

“Why are you sitting here,” Gu Feihan asked and held her cold hand, his face clearly frowning.

“It was so noisy inside and I started to feel uncomfortable,” she said looking for an excuse, “Where did you go?”

“To see my grandfather.”

He was afraid of her misunderstanding and decided to leave out the part where he saw Luo Xuan, but he didn’t know that his answer made Qiao Yu even more uncomfortable.

“If you’re done, can we go back? I’m feeling uncomfortable and I want to rest early.”

Gu Feihan could feel that there was something wrong, but she didn’t say anything so he couldn’t ask for more. He stretched out his hand to help her up but she pushed him away. His eyes darkened.

Absent-mindedly, Qiao Yu walked without looking and one of her heels accidentally got stuck on a crack on one of the floor tiles and she almost fell face down.

Gu Feihan immediately ran towards her and helped her up. Qiao Yu buried her head in his arms and listened to him reprimand her. Suddenly, the tip of her nose felt sour and could feel tears beginning to build.

“Gu Feihan.”

“Yes?”

She gritted her teeth and hesitated for a while, but she couldn’t hold it back, “If you are only good to me because of the child, it’s not needed. I don’t blame you.”

“Okay,” was the response he gave. It was so calm that Qiao Yu felt a little more uncomfortable.

She was about to say more, but Gu Feihan said, “Since you came back, I’ve been punctual at coming home–more punctual that when a woman’s period comes. What else do you have to say? Say it.”

He controlled his anger so that Qiao Yu wouldn’t get angry, and so he swallowed his stomach instead of saying more.

When he felt that she’d calmed down, Gu Feihan asked, “That woman, what did she tell you?”

“How did you know,” she asked shocked.

“What else would you be so upset about,” he said incredulously.

“She told me that you are suddenly being good to me because you felt that you owe me for the child.”

While they were talking, Gu Feihan’s special assistant saw them and immediately came over and opened the car door.

Gu Feihan smiled and guided her into the car.

“Do I treat you with kindness for you or the lost child. Don’t you know the answer in your heart?”

“No.”

[T/N]: Gu Feihan, you’re either an idiot or an idiot. Of course, she wouldn’t know!

Ch. 38: Luo Xuan’s Provocation

Facing a threat, Luo Xuan smiled even more provocatively.

“He treats you well now, but it’s because he pushed you down the stairs…which caused you to lose your child. Of course he feels guilty, that child had his blood. It’s not love at all.”

“Do you think I’d believe you,” Qiao Yu asked rhetorically, “Weren’t you the one who instigated in the beginning? He admitted to me that he didn’t want to kill the child at all, but you did…one plan that included hiring someone to kill me in a hit and run.”

As Qiao Yu exposed Luo Xuan’s actions, the latter was just astonished–without any panic or guilty conscience.

A moment later, Luo Xuan smiled a smile that was full of hatred and revenge, “Me? I merely wanted to help him, because he continued to look hesitant. Ask yourself, before you got pregnant, what was his attitude like? Then, suddenly, his attitude changes after the child?”

Qiao Yu pressed her lips and didn’t say a word. Although she didn’t want to admit it, Gu Feihan’s attitude did in fact change after the child had died. He was suddenly kind to her and she wasn’t sure whether it was because of his love for her or if it was to make up for the lost child. However, she refused to show weakness in front of the woman who was constantly conniving against her.

“No matter because this is between me and him. What does this have to do with you? I’m surprised you have time to be nostalgic, shouldn’t you be looking after your man? What do you think the general manager would say if I told him you called Gu Feihan two days ago…begging him to meet you?”

“You…how did you know,” Luo Xuan asked, a small crack on her facade.

“You don’t have to worry about that. All you have to remember is to not eat what’s in the bowl and look at what’s in the pot. It’s better to behave and guard yourself,” Qiao Yu noted before beginning to walk away again.

Luo Xuan, however, grabbed her once again, “Ha. I’m here to remind you that guilt and liking are different things. Even if it isn’t me, there will be others. Someone will take your place and it’ll be just like before.”

Qiao Yu clenched her fingers and looked at Luo Xuan arrogantly, before continuing to walk away before her face turned pale. It’s true, she couldn’t tell whether Gu Feihan truly liked her or if it was because of guilt. For that matter, what if what Luo Xuan said was true. She took two sips of champagne to calm herself down.

Gu Feihan went to see his grandfather and didn’t return for a long time. Qiao Yu couldn’t wait anymore and finally went to look for him after all the pent up anger. But she didn’t know where to go. After a while, she realized she was lost. She wanted to ask someone for directions, but there was no one around.

A few more steps later, she noticed two familiar figures near a stone sculpture–it was Gu Feihan and Luo Xuan. She stared and froze in place. There was an impulse to run over and confront them, but she couldn’t find the courage to take a step. She admitted to herself that she was afraid of the truth.

From her current perspective, it looks as if Luo Xuan was a little anxious and she could hear pieces about a child and the like. Then she watched Gu Feihan turn his back to her, but she couldn’t tell whether it was out of anger or joy.

[T/N]: There’s no way Luo Xuan is pregnant!! Maybe, she’s blackmailing him? JUST UGH. Although Gu Feihan is still not my favorite, like Luo Xuan please go disappear.

Hearing what happened, Qiao Yu’s eyes darkened, “I’m sorry.”

“I’m sharing this with you today, not because I want to hear your apology…but to let you know that the grudges from the previous generation have passed.”

Gu Feihan shook his head and smiled bitterly before turning around to touch her face, “The last thing I’ve regretted in my life is to impose your father’s mistakes on you and hurt you so.”

He spoke seriously and every word was full of affection and pleading. Qiao Yu could feel her heart beginning to tremble.

She didn’t say anything. He took her by the wrist and embraced her in his arms, “If you stop bearing the hate, we can start again–regardless of three months or three years. As long as we’re alive, we can be together, okay?”

Qiao Yu’s mouth moved, but no sound came out. She admitted that it was the most touching thing she’d ever heard in her life and it easily shattered the defense she had built.

“You…,” she turned her face in panic, afraid to go, but her face was red, “You let me think about it.”

Gu Feihan was not in a hurry on this matter. He had time to accompany her and slowly melt her heart.

“What happened afterwards? How did you reconcile with your family?”

“It was also after that accident. My mother was desperate and the only thing she could was bring me back and beg grandpa. Although he didn’t get my dad out, he helped me up. I have the achievements that I have now because of him.”

He spoke quietly and Qiao Yu listened, not making a sound.

When they finished, Qiao Yu exclaimed that she was hungry and wanted to go to the banquet hall to eat something. As she got there, she saw Luo Xuan who was with the general manager. She was talking and laughing. It seemed that the relationship was good.

The four of them bumped into each other and said their hellos. Although Gu Feihan and the general manager were on good terms, Qiao Yu and Luo Xuan were not. They’re both smiling, but Qiao Yu can feel Luo Xuan’s eyes on her–it was filled with hatred.

Gu Feihan glanced at Luo Xuan with a warning and took Qiao Yu to walk away. They weren’t able to get far before Gu Feihan’s uncle came to look for him since their grandpa had forgotten to say something.

“Wait for me here, I’ll be back soon.”

Qiao Yu nodded.

“Miss Qiao, it’s been a long time.”

Qiao Yu turned around indifferently, knowing whose voice it was and said, “Is something the matter?”

“Not at all. I heard that you’ve reunited with Feihan. Congratulations,” Luo Xuan greeted with an indifferent smile, “But do you know why he went back to find you?”

“I don’t know and I don’t want to know,” Qiao Yu responded before walking away, but Luo Xuan grabbed her by the arm.

“You are a good woman, using a child to tie his heart…but, unfortunately, he doesn’t love you…but the lost child.”

“Let go of me,” Qiao Yu replied, “Otherwise, I will call someone.”

[T/N]: Luo Xuan, jfc…go away. I haven’t missed you and I’m sure Qiao Yu and Gu Feihan haven’t missed you either.
